Children's Program

Classes for children 3 years old and up, are organized by age and skill level and are offered at convenient times throughout the week and on weekends. Our curriculum includes all the fun, exuberant drills that children love to do and initiates them into a healthy and active lifestyle.

Our philosophy promotes respect and discipline while learning a traditional art form with self-defense skills in a safe and fun environment. Your child will learn the following skills in our classroom such as respect, focus, coordination, discipline, concentration, and confidence, while learning self-defense skills in our safe, fun and positive environment. Many of our young students have achieved awards in competitions locally, nationally, and internationally. Many students have also been able to have the experience of performing for local events and televised productions.

Starting right from the Basic Introductory Program, our curriculum guides children step by step through the technical material and eases them into training and developing their martial art & physical skills. Our system of belts and levels teaches them how to set goals and go about achieving them.

We have special training programs, seminars, and activities for students that are intent on attaining a Black Belt degree. Like a college prep program, the academy's Black Belt program provides these students with the full spectrum of training necessary to achieve a Black Belt degree. Our Black Belt Leadership Program has proven popular, as well as helpful for teens applying for competitive universities.

Whether starting in our training program for children ages 3-7 or our juniors classes, our young students learn far more than kicks and punches. Our training curriculum includes all the fun and exciting moves that kids love, and also gets them healthy and fit. Our School's teaching philosophy also helps them realize that it's their newfound discipline, focus, and courage that is important.

Basic Orientation Program

If you desire a better body, better health, greater flexibility, more confidence, improved balance and coordination, let us help you achieve your goals through the art of Kung-Fu.

From the beginning of our Basic Introductory Program, our curriculum guides students step by step through the technical material, easing them into the rigors of training, developing their skills, and helping them achieve their goals. The curriculum teaches our adult students the effective and practical self-defense of Kung-Fu. They will also learn the movements, intricacies, and applications of the many Kung-Fu techniques and forms.

This program is the course that most students begin with. Students learn the basic Northern Eagle Claw style of Kung Fu or Tai Chi Chuan which includes the following: self-defense, breathing, stretching, calisthenics, philosophical and historical material. This program's emphasis is on learning the basic foundation of our system which includes: stances, blocks, punches, kicks, stretching, breathing, focus, practical self-defense applications, and becoming more fit and healthy.

Many of our adult students have little or no martial arts background before training at Shan Tung Kung-Fu, but they quickly develop skills they initially thought would be difficult. We also have many focused teens, who have found in Kung-Fu a unique, athletic and interesting challenge. Our students tell us time and time again, that there is no other workout or sport that accomplishes so much in such an efficient way.

Leadership Black Belt Program

This program is designed for our students who have set the goal of achieving the rank of Black Belt or higher in Northern Eagle Claw Kung-Fu. Emphasis is on mastering traditional Kung Fu and on gaining a wide variety of Martial Art knowledge. In this Black Belt program students will learn traditional empty hand forms, partner forms, work with weapons, Lion Dance, and "108 Locking Hand Techniques". Master Edwards and his top instructors offer workshops and seminars to members of the Leadership Black Belt Program. These special classes provide students with insight and experience in many martial art concepts. These dedicated and advanced students will gain the technical ability and the diverse knowledge necessary to become a Black Belt.

Tai Chi Chan Program

Tai Chi Chuan is one of the most popular and widely practiced martial arts in the world today. Tai Chi Chuan forms are done very slowly to promote relaxation, increase circulation, better balance, and loosening of the joints, which can help in protecting against arthritis. With the proper diet and daily practice of Tai Chi Chuan it can help lessen the risk or reduce the chances of such stress related diseases such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

Soldier Fighting Self-Defense

This program is designed to teach you how to defend against a violent attack on the streets. We will focus on teaching you the most efficient and quickest way to neutralize an attacker by striking the most vulnerable parts of the body such as the face, eyes, throat, ribs, groin, knee…etc. Basic training entails fitness, endurance training, pad work, pressure point strikes, elbow strikes, knee strikes, kicks and take downs just to name a few of the techniques that you will learn.
